Use the smallest useful query
Start with the title itself. Try an actor if the name is uncertain. Search also checks recorded alternate titles, which helps with localized names and spelling differences. A long sentence can hide the useful part of a query, so remove words that are not part of the title or person’s name.
Match the format
Movies and series are separate formats in the filter panel. A film sequel is a movie with its own year, while a new season belongs to a series. Try “Severance season 2” to find a recorded season, but search “Moana 2” as a film title.
Use dates carefully
A year filter and a from-through date range apply to the production’s release date. For a series, that is the start of the show, not the date of every later episode. If you set both, they need to overlap. An end date before the start date is rejected rather than silently producing a misleading result.
When nothing matches
Reset the filters and add them back one at a time. A movie-length filter excludes series. The original-language filter does not search every dub. If the name still escapes you, open A–Z or follow a cast member from a title you recognize.
